HAVE YOUR SAY: 2023-2027 Common Agricultural Policy – Mid-term evaluation & Fisheries and Aquaculture – Vision 2040

The European Commission has recently opened two forums for expressing opinions.
The first is part of the feedback process for the mid-term review of the CAP for the 2023-2027 cycle. The aim is to assess whether the new CAP delivery model and the measures in the CAP Strategic Plans (CSPs) are on track to meet the specific objectives and performance indicators of the CAP for the period 2023-2025.
The process assesses the progress and initial performance of implementation, administrative burdens and simplification, policy coherence, and EU added value compared to national measures. It also examines the extent to which the CAP remains relevant amid changing needs and new challenges.
The consultation platform is available at the following link and will be open until April 6:
The second feedback process has been opened to develop a vision for fisheries and aquaculture until 2040. The aim is to develop a 15-year strategic framework to guide policy developments in the fisheries, aquaculture and processing value chain. The 2040 vision also aims to address systemic challenges affecting the fisheries and aquaculture sector while ensuring its sustainability and long-term competitiveness.
The 2040 vision will set out a comprehensive policy framework for a competitive, resilient, and sustainable fisheries and aquaculture sector, including the processing industry, in line with the European Ocean Pact. The initiative will:
- identifies critical issues affecting the entire value chain;
- outlines policy responses;
- builds on the evaluation of the Common Fisheries Policy Regulation;
- aligns with the EU's external fisheries action strategy and the roadmap for the energy transition of the EU fisheries and aquaculture sector.
The initiative is open for responses until March 24:
The opportunity to express opinions contributes to the success and increased effectiveness of policy processes.
