A new #RestoreNature webinar is available about the importance of science-based approaches for implementing the Nature Restoration Regulation across European member states.

Expert speaker Kris Decleer introduces Landscape Ecological System Analysis (LISA) as a structured, science-based approach to assessing restoration needs across landscapes, alongside the concept of the Favorable Reference Area (FRA) as a way to define restoration ambition and long-term ecological viability. The session also raises concerns that current conservation targets may not be sufficient to achieve the required scale of restoration, and highlights the importance of aligning planning frameworks with the goal of bringing 90% of areas into good condition. The discussion calls for stronger engagement from the restoration community to support science-based, implementable NRPs and to ensure legal commitments translate into effective action on the ground.
